Community, empowerment, and equality of technology, opportunity, and voice, are values for which the FFW team cares deeply. We celebrate the unique cultural backgrounds and personal experiences of our global team. It’s one of the foundational reasons for our success. Without this spectrum of perspectives aligned in purpose, our company wouldn’t be what it is today.
At FFW, we see a big opportunity in the development community to embrace this same idea. Women make up only 11% of the developer workforce in the U.S. We believe by empowering women in our industry, especially through training opportunities, the development and IT communities will become stronger and better for it. And, not to mention, it just feels like the right thing to do.
GirlsGoIT
GirlsGoIT is a non-profit organization that empowers and encourages young women to pursue careers in the IT and development fields. GirlsGoIT supports its mission by creating educational and applied training opportunities in development. Established in 2015, we have been a proud supporter since 2016.
There are other ways to give back to GirlsGoIT in addition to financial support. At FFW, we’ve been able to donate hardware to help run their popular summer camps. One of the most rewarding experiences was providing an internship program where two aspiring young women gained coding, programming, teamwork, and other critical skills by having an applied view of the day-to-day activities of a full digital agency.
We hope to encourage others to support GirlsGoIT, which is just one great example of a number of other worthy organizations with similar missions. We fully believe supporting and empowering women in our field will make our overall community stronger, and accelerate the advance of digital innovation.
